Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead and manage large-scale commercial and industrial fence installation projects from pre-construction through project completion. This position is responsible for planning daily field operations, coordinating labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

 

The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy civil construction and understands site layout, grades, elevations, surveying principles, heavy equipment operation, and construction sequencing. This individual will be a hands-on leader capable of managing multiple crews while maintaining excellent communication with project managers, customers, inspectors, and subcontractors.

 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee field operations for commercial and industrial fence projects.

• Lead and supervise multiple employees, installation crews and subcontractors.

• Plan daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules to maximize productivity.

• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.

• Perform and verify project layout using construction plans, elevations, grades, and benchmarks.

• Coordinate with project managers to ensure labor, materials, and equipment are available as scheduled.

• Operate and oversee the safe use of heavy construction equipment including excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, augers, and other specialty equipment.

• Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule conflicts or potential delays.

• Ensure all work meets project specifications, company quality standards, and customer expectations.

• Coordinate inspections with customers, engineers, and regulatory agencies.

• Maintain accurate daily reports, production tracking, equipment logs, and project documentation.

• Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to management.

• Manage, train, mentor, and develop field personnel.

• Assist with project planning, logistics, and constructability reviews before work begins.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in civil construction work

• 5+ years of experience as a commercial or industrial project superintendent.

• Experience with commercial fencing systems.

• Experience using GPS layout equipment or construction surveying instruments.

• OSHA 30 Certification.

• CPR/First Aid Certification.

• CDL preferred but not required.

• Experience working around active industrial facilities or petrochemical plants.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

 

Technical Skills:

• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Experience with construction scheduling software

• Bluebeam or PDF plan review software

• GPS and laser level equipment

• Electronic timekeeping and daily reporting systems

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.

• Ability to walk in uneven terrain throughout the workday.

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Climb ladders and work around heavy equipment.

• Available to travel out of the Houston area when necessary.

• Ability to work extended hours when required to meet project schedules.
