When you invest in a fence, you want a few things out of it. In many cases, you want security, as fences are great for keeping people out of certain areas. You might have some aesthetic expectations, desiring a fence that doesn’t look bad on your property.
Most of all, you want a fence that is reliable. For that, you need to choose the right material, and there are two in particular that are ideal for outdoor fencing.
Iron
Iron is a common material choice for ornamental fencing. You have probably seen wrought iron fencing at some point. The solid color and ability to hold intricate designs make this a great material for genuinely artistic fences.
At the same time, iron is as tough as it gets. As long as it is properly treated from the beginning to prevent rust, iron is incredibly strong and heavy. It can stand up against high winds and other extreme weather events. It doesn’t care about outdoor temperatures, and it is perfectly fine even in the harshest sunlight.
Aluminum
Aluminum is a very common choice for fencing. Aluminum is popular because of its longevity.
With no special treatment at all, aluminum is pretty much weather-proof. No amount of rain or precipitation will cause aluminum to rust. It can even withstand the salty air quality when placed near the ocean.
Aluminum is also strong and UV-resistant. So, it won’t easily degrade over time, and it’s more than durable enough to stay in place even in the face of heavy forces.
